Here's a good one for you to take a look at. Not really sure just how big this fish is but I beleive that we released a possible state record tarpon in Port Royal Sound this past August. Fellow charer captains from the North End Charter Fleet have estimated the fish to be around 180lbs or better. What do you think?
Managing your herd by letting the little guys grow will pay off dividends in your future. Check out this proof...
Jim Meadows took this 205 lb Whitetail in Berkeley County on August 30th 2010. Great Buck Jim!

It's deer season in the midlands, and these first few weeks of the season are typically tough, but keep in mind that this part of the state has plenty of wild hogs that can make your outing profitable even if no deer show up. Most deer processors will handle your hogs for you too, so don't be intimidated by the processing aspect if you aren't up for the job yourself.
According to Captain John Fuss of Charleston, “The fishing for September seems to be a great start to the fall season.”
“Catches of large red drum both in the breakers and at the Charleston Jettys have been steady.” says Capt. John. “Try fishing on the bottom using fish finder or Carolina rigs with 3oz. weights and # 7/0 circle hooks, tipped with cut menhaden or mullet.”
Dove season opens at noon this Saturday, September 4. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is offering many public dove hunts throughout the state, and many of these fields are adult/youth hunts. To find a complete listing of these public hunts in your area go to http://www.dnr.sc.gov/wildlife/dove/pdf/dovefields1011.pdf for more information.
The Dove Hunting on the Canal WMA was RED HOT! I have reports of Limits being taken in just over 2 hours. Brantley Williams of Mount Pleasant said 'the shooting was just getting good when we finished up our limit about 3:00' That sounds like a pretty good hunt to me. There are more hunts coming soon. Check out the DNR website for more details.

Make sure that you have your rifle dialed in to shoot consistent groups inside a quarter at 100 yards before trying to shoot head shots. I shoot my 7mm with a 140 grain round and often shoot during the summer to stay tuned up. I prefer to shoot deer, with the one shot one kill mentality. I often practice shooting targets that are smaller than a doe's head and therefore will feel confident when a.... Read More
Fishing off of Charleston for Dolphin in May and landed an 850lb blue marlin. We were told that it would have been a state record if we had killed it. We released it so that another could enjoy landing a marlin.
There is always LOTS of anticipation leading up to opening day of dove season. Football and barbecue awaits the hunters that go afield in search of their legal limit of doves - which is now 15. I can report that two gunners on either side of me were able to take their limits, and the Richland County dove field had plenty of doves! About 25 guns probably harvested 200 birds, and it's almost.... Read More
The summer offshore fishing has been incredible for the crew of Billfisher, a 62-foot Paul Spencer based in Ocean City, Md. They achieved 200 marlin releases in 32 days of fishing, including a new record 57 white marlin released on Aug. 30 when a fleet of nine sportfishers left Sunset Marina, and caught and released 267 white marlin during the all-day fishing frenzy.
I guess I'm just a died in the wool fisherman; I just can't understand why someone would want to go hunting in the fall when fishing is sooo gooooood in the fall. Ha Ha! This fall is going to be awesome in the lower lake this year for old Wally Greenback (Mr. Largemouth, Wide Jaw, etc.)With all the shallow water vegetation in the lakes now, fish a Senko and floating worm as you would in the.... The full moon of August has passed, but the bream bite is still hot on the Lynches River. According to Jesse Petit, of Wisacky, it's mainly the bluegills and shellcrackers that are biting, and they are biting everything.
Petit prefers to throw Johnson Bettlespins on ultralight rods for his bream action, but he says other spinners in the 1/16 - 1/8th ounce sizes will work, and tiny spoons and.... Read More

Do you have a bucket full of shrimp? If you don't then you need to get one! and get out in the river. The water is changing and the fish are turning on. Fall weather is on the way. We caught 25+ redfish under a cork yesterday in the first three hours of the rising tide. Get yourself in front of some live oysters and float them down in the current lines just off the bank! Good Luck and tight.... Read More

Trying to get rid of some hog on my property before deer season starts here in the upstate. I have caught a few but cant seen to get them to go inside the trap most of the time. They are smarter than most people think. especially a boar like this one who wont go in the trap. Any suggestions?
This buck I watched all year last hunting season and he is back again this year. I sure hope a client gets him this year, he is a giant, wouldn't you agree? His rack is so tall that this picture really doesn't do any justice as to how wide his rack is, also. Every now and then he comes out during daylight hours, I try to stay off this stand as I don't want to spook him or any o.... Read More
cant wait for deer season to start in the upstate. Hope to get a shot at one of these bucks with my bow. Also I thought i would post a pic of this doe with triplets. All pics were taken in the same spot.
Conrad Bolt of Seneca, the July winner of the South Carolina Bass Federation Tournament on Lake Murray, says that most people think that you can not catch bass this time of year and certainly, not on topwater. Well, you can, if you know where to find them and throw the “right stuff .”
Around 10:00 am, Bolt's first stop was on the Tugaloo River side of Lake Hartwell on a long point. Near.... Read More

I saw several bucks on this piece of land. We then cleared a lane through some planted pines and decided to put up a camera. We have many pictures of these bucks and this specific picture stuck out and I chose to send it in. This picture was captured on August 14, 2010 at 7:30 a.m.
o.k. you ask for it. these are just a couple of rattlesnakes i ran across while in the woods. dont have pics of all of them and of course ticks, ticks and more ticks.
You can catch a catfish right now in Santee Cooper - if you know where to look. What has happened this year is kind of unusual; but I have seen it happen in the hot summertime before. It has been so consistently hot this summer that the highest concentration of dissolved oxygen is in fairly shallow water. If you're fishing in deep water with no luck try drifting in 8 - 12 feet of w.... Read More
Stripers are in their summer pattern. It has been very hot since early June and the fish have become tricky to catch. Last summer was a cool summer, and the fish stayed active and ate herring will all summer.I t is normal for fish to be finicky for three to four weeks during the “dog days” of summer with the hottest water temperatures of the year at the deep depths.
The Mt. Pleasant Pier in Charleston held the Cooper River Challenge on August 21. Twenty-five fishermen registered 20 catches including: 8 sheepshead, 4 whiting, 2 black drum ( a 3 pound, 10 ounce one was the 2nd biggest fish of the day), 2 bluefish, 2 spotted sea trout,1 flounder, and 1 red drum.

It's not open season on deer yet in every part of the state. But don't let that stop you from getting into the woods. In most parts of the Palmetto State, hogs offer hunters a chance for outdoorsmen to get a live warm-up for deer season. They also offer a chance to put some pork in the freezer before the venison fills it up. The SCDNR reports hogs were killed in 45 of the state's 46 counties.... Read More

I was in the stand by 5:00pm and at 5:30pm out steped a 5pt. Then a 8pt. and 10pt. As I was sitting there watching then I new that he was not fair behind. About two year ago I saw this pic on my trail cam. I have asked everyone if its a black panther. DNR said it was a black coyote. But others said they would tell me that so that every one in south carolina wouldn't be out hunting it. But the funny part is the pic. before that one is of a full size doe and that CAT is almost the same size. So what do you think?
