Dalton Reames caught this flounder in the Hunting Island Lagoon.
Flounder-Beaufort Area
Dalton Reames does a lot of inshore fishing in the Beaufort area and recently tested the inlets around Fripp Island and Hunting Island.
Reames had some luck catching flounder on mud-minnows and also hooked a ladyfish that put on a good aerial show. Reames also catches these fish on jig heads with pearl-colored grubs.
Most of the flounder were caught on the incoming tide in very shallow water. The lagoon at Hunting Island has given up some good numbers of flounder lately, but any of the inlets around the Russ Point boat landing are good areas to try for these tasty flat fish.
