Opening day afternoon hunt. Had 6 does feeding in front of me when all of a sudden they spooked for no apparent reason. A couple minutes later it sounds like a stampede as 8 bucks come trotting right down the middle of the road. After playing cat and mouse behind a small button buck for 20 minutes he finally gives me a shot. 9 point with a 17.5 inch spread weighing 180 lbs. Great opening day hunt.
I am 17 years old and from Pelion, SC. I had a great start to the season by getting not one, but two big bucks in Lexington County. I got a 10- point and a 9-point, both in full velvet. The 10-point had a drop tine on the left main beam and had an inside spread of 17 and 1/2 inches and weighed 215 lbs. The 9-point weighed around 150 lbs. I used a Ruger .308.
I am a 19 year old, college student, who as been hunting since I was about twelve years old. All season I hunted a buck who I had seen on my trail camera and was an obvious tall eight point. I was sitting in my stand at 4:30pm on December 11th, a tall buck walks out into my field. Through the scope it appeared to be a large eight point. I lined up my shot and watched him sniff the wind for signs.... Read More
I've hunted this buck for 3 years before I finally got him. Three years got he was a 10 or 11 point and last year he broke his entire right side off and was still a 7 point with just his left side. We never had any daytime pictures always 20 minutes before or after dark. Saturday morning I hunted the stand where we got the last trail am picss of him. I left the stand at 8:00am and was.... My son Connor took a great buck on November 16,2013 with a Diamond Edge bow and slick trik broad head. The deer was at 17 yards and Connor made a great shot. The 8pt buck weighed 140lbs with with a 14 1/8' spread. Connor is twelve years old and an accomplished hunter, having taken deer with a .243 and crossbow since he was 8.
after catching this guy on camera last year made taking him a sweet treat, but not as sweet as it was to have my 4 1/2 year old son in the stand with me when taking this SC record book deer. with a spread of 23 1/2 there was no second guessing what deer he was when he stepped out in front of us.he will for ever be on my wall, a nice 11 point.
Hunting with a close friend I harvested this mature beauty 11 pt 180lb at 9:30am 11/9/2013. Weapon was a vintage 1924 Serbian Mauser 8mm. Ran 20 feet and crashed. Was a Great day for both of us. He shoot a 10 point 30 minutes before me. We also harvested a 6 point. 3 deer in 45 minutes.
Planning to hunt a new spot I arrived earlier than usual to scope out a good area to sit at. I began my hunt like I always do, take out my gear, spray down, check my flashlight, give the Tinks a sniff and head out into the woods. As I stepped into the treeline I chambered a round in my Howa .308 and started down the trail for a 10 minute walk. About 2 minutes into my trip I happened to glance to.... Read More
This is the first deer my son Reed has ever squeezed the trigger on. Last fall he got the fever to start hunting but we were not set up to do so. He got his first rifle for Christmas & on his birthday got a Nikon buckmaster scope. The buck weighed 198 lbs & was a 9 point. Not bad for the first deer he ever shot.
I shot this great 10 pt with a split brow sitting on ground under the same tree I shot a nice 8 the prior Sat. gross green scored 130. hopefully my first one for the books. Gotta love sitting on the ground!!!!
I took this Greenwood County buck at our club the morning of 10/20. He was cruising back to a bedding area and came within 100 yards of my stand close to 11am. We named him the 'Dagger' buck because of his impressive 8 inch brow tine. Dagger weighed in at 175 pounds. His neck was swollen and by the looks of his tarsal glands he was geared up for the rut. Fortunately for me, he wont be making.... Read More
