Waterfowl and Duck Hunting in Lowcountry Area
Hey guys/gals! I currently have access to a 40 acre pond of mostly 1-2 ft of water. About 10 acres of the pond is open water with small islands of fragmites. It is brackish water and I just began to duck hunt in it, for the upcoming 2015-2016 waterfowl season I am looking to plant a natural food for waterfowl that does not require draining the pond. I have been looking into widgeon grass and....  Read More

Waterfowl and Duck Hunting in Outside South Carolina
Well while the 2014/2015 duck season has sadly come to an end, it surly was an amazing year. We were able to kill a verity of ducks, including an abundance of Redheads, also I was able to make some memorable hunts with some great people from all over. It really makes this all worth it to see the expressions of joy on peoples faces that lets you know you are doing your job. I couldn't ask for a....  Read More

  • Open Season on cormorants starts this Sunday
The state's first cormorant hunting season begins this Sunday, Feb 2nd on the Santee Cooper lakes. Participants must be permitted by the DNR, and that isn't as simple as buying a hunting license. Aside from having a valid hunting license, cormorant seekers must have attended one of the SCDNR's training sessions and possess the permit they were issued. This goes for anyone tagging along with....  Read More

  • Opening Day - Duck/Goose
With the 70 degree temperatures and the lack of migrating ducks, our crew decided to hunt geese instead. After setting up our full bodies and shell decoys, we got ready for legal shooting hours. It was cloudy and over cast, and no wind. Blake Langley our camera man, videoed our hunt. We worked two different pairs and one flock of six. We managed to get five nice birds and then topped it off with....  Read More

  • Cormorant season will be early next year.
The SCDNR has set the dates for two training sessions for harvesting double-crested cormorants on the Santee-Cooper Lakes, a first for South Carolina.

These federally protected birds have become a nuisance throughout the state, especially in Santee-Cooper's waters, so South Carolina was granted a Depredation Order by the US Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS).

The season for....  Read More

  • Cormorants are federally protected, but hunters will soon have a shot at them.
South Carolina's outdoorsmen will soon have the opportunity to hunt one of the state's biggest nuisance birds, according to SCDNR officials. The nearly two-month long season will take place after waterfowl season, and will only apply to Lakes Marion and Moultrie, said the DNR's Derrell Shipes, who is the head of statewide wildlife projects at the organization.

These large birds float....  Read More

Are you ready for DUCK SEASON. Duck hunting is really an all year sport if you are doing it right. First there is finding the right spot, then finding the right dog , then training and keeping that dog happy, buying a gun and working to be able to afford the latest and greatest duck hunting shells that can drop them from the sky at 60 yards out.

Most important is YOUR DOG. If you don't....  Read More
