The SCDNR has set the dates for two training sessions for harvesting double-crested cormorants on the Santee-Cooper Lakes, a first for South Carolina.
These federally protected birds have become a nuisance throughout the state, especially in Santee-Cooper's waters, so South Carolina was granted a Depredation Order by the US Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS).
