  • Morgan Ray shows off her first fish.
Pawleys Island resident Morgan Ray caught her first fish earlier this week while fishing with her mom in a saltwater pond in the Litchfield area.

The 8-year old landed a pinfish on a piece of cut shrimp with her Shakespeare Ladyfish rod-and-reel combo in the early evening on an incoming tide.

Ray had been fishing with whole shrimp, but she said little fish kept pecking at the....  Read More

The SCDNR regularly stocks fish throughout South Carolina's waters, and they recently continued the practice at Gallivant's Ferry, stocking 10,000 redbreast bream into the Little Pee Dee River.

The fingerlings were raised at the Cheraw Fish Hatchery and this is but one installment of over 10 million fish stocked each year throughout the Palmetto State.

  • freshwater flounder
Today i went fishing for crappie at Lake Busbee in Conway. Using live minnows for bait i caught a few yellow perch before i hooked into something unusual. After a decent fight on light tackle i managed to pull a 17 inch flounder from the freshwater lake. A man walking near by said sometimes they swim up the waccamaw river.... is this possible or did someone just let one go maybe?

  • Jeff Burleson caught this Georgetown sea trout on a Vudu Shrimp.
The sea trout bite is hot in the Georgetown area, especially in the Mud Bay and Winyah Bay areas. The early morning bite is good with topwater lures like Heddon Saltwater Spooks and Sebile Ghost Walkers.

As the morning bite wanes, anglers are switching to soft plastics like DOA Shrimp and Vudu Shrimp.

Popular colors for both the topwater and soft plastic lures include chartreuse....  Read More

There is more than one way to catch a Murrells Inlet Trout. We captured this female angler catching trout from a paddle board. She was working them over pretty good. Watch your step when a vessel runs past you !!!

  • Halloween Smackdown (x2)
My son and I, went hunting on Halloween. Being that he and I sit in separate stands on opposite ends of our hunting lease, we expected for at least one of us to see a deer because it was a perfect day to hunt. 10 mins after he got in his stand, a little buck walked out. He begged and begged to let him shoot it (through text) but I wouldn't let him because we don't really kill small bucks. After....  Read More

  • Taken in Horry County, SC by Jay Garner
As I was checking my deer camera pictures, my wife was watching TV beside me. When I came across this picture of this buck I mumbled to myself, 'Man, that thing is..........majestic!'. My wife said, 'That may be the corniest thing I have ever heard someone say. Especially about a stupid deer!' After her making fun of me repeatedly, the name for the big buck stuck. Around my house, and to my....  Read More

Captain Ned Rogers of R&R Charters does not offer REST & RELAXATION on board his Contender. It's actually quite the opposite. Constant action and trolling rods that are doubled over towards the motors is more the style on board his vessel. Ned and his trusty mate Dallas Dellinger picked us up at the dock and started the day with talk of a great bite. Since the clouds had covered up the....  Read More

This is my very first deer which I am extremely happy with. Tonight was my first night hunting by myself with husband home instead of in a stand down the road. I got in the stand about 545 pm and he walked onto the corn pile around 620, and was down soon after.

Captain Ned Rogers of R & R Charters said that the offshore fall fishing is fantastic in Myrtle Beach.

Captain Ned went on to say that he is hauling in good catches of kings, mahi, wahoo, and tuna with the cooler weather, and the fishing should continue for a while.

Recently, Capt. Ned took the South Carolina Outdoor Press (SCOPe) boys, (lt.-rt. Brian Carroll, P.J. Perea, and Glenn....  Read More
