Deer Hunting in South Carolina
I just recently moved to the South Carolina Area and I'm not going to lie I was pretty pumped. I've hunted deer, turkey, bear in mass, ct, vt, and Maine all in public land and some private. I was so pumped to be moving down because of the variety of fishing I'd be able to do and more importantly the massive population of deer. But after downloading the regulation book, I feel like I need a....  Read More

  • It's NOT Deer Season Leave me alone
Why are you still looking at me like that ? DEER SEASON is 'OVER' for 8 months. LEAVE ME ALONE. I get 8 months to taunt you with close range walk bys and daylight feedings.

So leave me alone and go back to work.

Got into the stand only 15 mins before this 6 pt showed up munching on some corn left on the edge of a sprouting wheat field in Gable, SC. Distance was 105 yards. Clear sky right at sunrise. Facing East into the sun, the buck started to head South across the wheat to think brush. About one-third the way over, I called to him with a doe grunt on a Primo\'s Buck Roar call. On the....  Read More

  • Lewis Howard 8 Point FMNF
Lewis Howard of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina connects with a Francis Marion National Forest Hammer. The end of the season is a great time to catch big bucks on their feet trying to get back into a routine. These bucks have been going crazy for weeks on end and they need to get back to a feeding pattern. During the late season if you can find the food you can find the big bucks. This deer was....  Read More

  • Derrill Hiott posing with his trophy!
Derrill Hiott - 7 Pointer taken in Greenwood County on Abbewood Hunting Club. I was just about to shoot a very large doe, when i saw her turn and look away as if something was coming. about 5 seconds later this boy comes trotting towards her. He is now being mounted! Fortunately i was able to capture him on my Moultrie Trail Cam and knew that he and another larger buck was in the area.

The Francis Marion National Forest gives up another nice whitetail. Forrest Bowers of Awendaw, South Carolina took this hefty buck just after sun up on December 12th. He was standing broadside at just beyond 120 yards when the crack of the .243 broke the silence of the morning. The antlers sticking up from the brown grass was a tell tale sign that the bullet had connected. Forrest likes to shoot....  Read More

Brian Hunnicutt of Fair Play shot this big ten-point buck in Oconee County before Thanksgiving.

Hunnicutt was hunting over a large field on the edge of a stand of white oak trees. It was around 5:00 when he spotted the big buck chasing a doe.

Estimating that the buck was about 300 yards out, Hunnicutt sent a 150 grain bullet to take the trophy deer with his 30-06. The ten-point....  Read More
