SCDNR to host alligator-hunting seminars

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will conduct a series of three alligator hunting seminars in August for those participating in the public alligator hunt, hunting assistants and other interested persons.

Public dove-hunting fields announced, applications due Aug. 12

Forty-three fields available for public dove hunting
Forty-three public dove fields will be available across the state during the 2011-12 season through the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Management Area program.

The mourning dove season will run from Sept. 3-5 (noon until sunset), Sept. 6-Oct. 8, Nov. 19-26 and Dec. 21-Jan. 15. Legal hunting hours for mourning dove season, except for Sept. 3-5, are from 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset. The daily bag limit is 15 birds per day.Read More...

Deadline set for Pee Dee Station Site WMA dove hunt

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the S.C. Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) announce a public drawing for the opening day of dove season at the Pee Dee Station Site Wildlife Management Area Public Dove Field in Florence County.

The Sept. 3 drawing is an effort to improve the quality of the hunt and enhance the satisfaction of the participants. A legible application is required to be submitted by 5 p.m. Aug. 12.Read More...

Legislators override vetoes of South Carolina Conservation Bank funds

Pushed by a loud outcry from environmentalists, conservationists, and hunters and fishermen from across the state, the South Carolina Senate and House voted to override Gov. Nikki Haley’s vetoes of funding for the S.C. Conservation Bank on June 30.

Volunteers are needed to help determine just how successful the turkey nesting has been, the, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources announced yesterday (June 30).
