SCDNR hosting turkey draw hunts; application deadline is Feb. 29

Every year, the SCDNR holds a number of public draw turkey hunts on Wildlife Management Area (WMA) lands. This year, six hunts will be held for youth hunter ages 5-17. Five hunts will be held for hunters 10-years-old and above. The deadline to apply for these hunts is Feb. 29.

Predator hunting contest this weekend

As hunters, we constantly hear that coyotes are a major problem to our intended quarry, and several studies conducted by the SCDNR over the past 10-years have proven that coyotes are big killers of young whitetail deer. The hunting regulations on coyotes are pretty liberal, so we can’t blame a lack of opportunity for not killing more.
